Burned body found in Burnet County
The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office is investigating burned human remains discovered Monday, Dec. 25, on County Road 203 near Lake Victor, located about halfway between Burnet and Lampasas. The victim’s identity and cause of death were not released by the time of this story’s publication.
The Texas Rangers and Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office are aiding in the investigation.
According to BCSO Capt. Mike Sorenson, identifying documents found on the body indicate the victim was a woman, but further investigation and an autopsy report are necessary to confirm the person’s name. In a statement to DailyTrib.com, he explained it was too early in the investigation to determine if the death was a suicide or a homicide, and the only obvious signs of injury were the burns themselves.
“(There’s) lots of things still in play,” he said.
