A Granite Shoals man was arrested Aug. 25 on a charge of possession of child pornography. Robby Lyn Neugent, 55, is being held in the Burnet County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Granite Shoals Police Department Detective Allen Miley received a tip regarding Neugent’s possible possession of illicit images from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That information led to a prolonged online investigation and, ultimately, Neugent’s arrest.
Miley was especially equipped for this investigation as an affiliate of the Southern Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
“The Granite Shoals Police Department is thoroughly committed to protecting innocent children and will continue to investigate these heinous online crimes,” reads a Sept. 5 media release from GSPD about the arrest.
The charge of possession of child pornography is a third-degree felony and carries possible fines of up to $10,000 and a prison sentence of two to 10 years.
To report an incident or suspicious situation that may involve the extraterritorial sexual exploitation of children, file a report on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website or call 1-800-843-5678.

How can Allen Miley be involved with an investigation in Granite Shoals when he was suppose to have left the police department and joined the Lago Vista police department? I’m glad this man was arrested and taken off the streets but just wondering how Allen Miley could have been involved from another department. Just doesn’t make sense to me. Sounds like this man has to much power to me unless he came back to the Granite Shoals police department.
Hello, this is Dakota Morrissiey, the reporter who covered this story. It is true that Miley went to the Lago Vista Police Department for a few months, but he has since returned to Granite Shoals Police Department.
Hoping penalties will soon get a lot tougher for these crimes against children.
