The Burnet County Commissioners Court approved a preliminary plat for a Family Dollar store on the east side of Kingsland during its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 28. A final plat hearing is expected to be held during the court’s next meeting on April 11.

The preliminary plat approved by the court shows the convenience store will sit on 1.94 acres near the intersection of FM 2342 and RR 1431. The lot is privately owned and part of a larger 49-acre tract that extends to the northeast.

“They’ve got with (the Texas Department of Transportation), they’ve got with the (Lower Colorado River Authority), and it’s pretty much buttoned up and ready to go,” Burnet County Development Services Director Herb Darling said during the meeting.

The location is in Precinct 1, which is represented by Commissioner Jim Luther.

This will be the third “dollar value” store in Kingsland, along with Dollar General at 3215 RR 1431 and Dollar Tree at 2004 RR 1431.

1 thought on “Family Dollar coming to Kingsland

  1. Just what Kingsland needs…another dollar store ?. It’s sad that our community leaders cannot work to attract more diverse businesses to locate here.
