HEB on Quest for Texas Best from small businesses
H-E-B’s 10th annual Quest for Texas Best is accepting entries until 5 p.m. April 6. The contest invites Texans who own small businesses selling food, beverages, or merchandise to submit their products for a chance at thousands in prize money and a spot on H-E-B shelves.
In 2017, Bertram couple Bridget and Will McCoy tied for first place and won $20,000 with their Texas Pecan Cake Shop products.
“It was amazing. It completely changed everything,” Bridget McCoy told DailyTrib.com. “It made all the difference, and winning that money allowed us to purchase the pans we needed to grow.”
After the 2023 entry submission window closes, a panel of judges will narrow down the products to the top 10 over three phases. Contestants who make it to the final phase will make presentations before the judges. The final phase is expected to run from Aug. 7-11.
This year’s grand prize winner will receive $25,000, one year of groceries from H-E-B, and the opportunity to pitch their product to H-E-B executives. The first-place winner will receive $20,000, second place $15,000, and third place $10,000.
The contest is open to all Texas residents ages 18 years and older, but products must be substantially grown, prepared, harvested, sourced, and made within the state. For more information on rules, regulations, and submission guidelines, visit the H-E-B Quest for Texas Best webpage.
