Ground Game Texas’ Julie Oliver to speak to Burnet County Democrats on Feb. 26
Ground Game Texas co-founder Julie Oliver is the special guest during a “Water and Wine” membership meeting for the Burnet County Democratic Club on Sunday, Feb. 26. It takes place from 2-4 p.m. at Cadillac Dance Hall, 1375 FM 1855 in Marble Falls, and is free and open to the public.
Ground Game Texas is a progressive grass roots coalition that seeks to “organize and mobilize voters community by community … hear their concerns, and highlight popular issues that are on the ballot,” according to the group’s website.
“We are honored to host Ground Game Texas and Julie Oliver. She is a dynamic community organizer and democratic warrior,” stated Democratic Club Vice President Guy Stuart in a Feb. 17 media release announcing the event.
Oliver is a healthcare finance expert who ran in 2020 as the Democratic candidate against Republican Rep. Roger Williams for the Texas District 25 seat in the U.S. House. She lives in Austin with husband Matt and their children. Along with being the executive director of Ground Game Texas, she serves on the board of Common Defense, a progressive veterans organization, and volunteers at a local food bank.
“Oliver is truly a force for good in Texas and is a knowledgeable and inspiring public speaker as well,” stated club President Sue White in the release. “This should be an informative, motivating, and fun afternoon.”
