Fatal two-vehicle crash on U.S. 281
Marble Falls police and area emergency crews responded to a fatal, two-vehicle crash at 7:49 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, on U.S. 281 near the city limits north of town.
Marble Falls Police Capt. Trisha Ratliff stated in a media release that, based on the preliminary investigation, it appears a pickup truck attempted to make U-turn and was struck by a fully loaded semi-truck.
Authorities have not released any more details at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
Following the collision, law enforcement had closed both southbound lanes and one northbound lane to traffic as of approximately 8 a.m.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area if at all possible, but if they need to travel in this area, they should use caution as emergency crews may still be present.
One alternative route between Marble Falls and Burnet is CR 340, also known as Mormon Mill Road. It is, however, a small two-lane road and not designed for large amounts of traffic.
More information will be posted as available.
