The first of four phases of construction on about 13 miles of Texas 29 between RM 2241 and RR 1431 east of Llano is scheduled to begin Monday, May 13.
In all, the Texas Department of Transportation project in Llano County will have four phases to widen the highway and add alternating passing lanes and 10-foot shoulders.
The first phase will be over a stretch starting 2.7 miles west of RR 1431 out to 5.5 miles west of it, a total of 2.8 miles. The estimated construction cost of that phase is about $3.9 million, below the originally estimated $5 million. The other three phases remain budgeted for $5 million each.
The first phase is expected to be complete by mid-2020, according to TxDOT.
Phase 2 construction is projected to begin the summer of 2020, Phase 3 in the winter of 2020, and Phase 4 in the winter of 2021.
