Police arrest two Marble Falls High School students over alleged threat

FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — Two Marble Falls High School students face third-degree felony terroristic threat charges after authorities arrested them Feb. 16 on campus about an hour after the start of school, according to the Marble Falls Police Department.

The two males are under the age of 17, so police cannot release their identities.

“Shortly after nine this morning, Marble Falls Police Officer (Tim) McIntyre, who is assigned to the school district, was notified by a student at the Marble Falls High School that another student had made a threat against the school,” according to an MFPD statement. “Marble Falls detectives responded to the high school to assist in the investigation, during which it was determined that an additional student was involved.”

Marble Falls Independent School District officials sent a letter to parents later in the day stating that the two students “made non-specific, verbal threats to a school that occurred as part of a conversation in class.”

“Campus administration was immediately notified and collaborated with the Marble Falls Police Department to investigate the report,” according the school district statement. “During the investigation, the students were searched, and one student was found in possession of a pocketknife.”

The campus was not closed as a result of the incident, and the school day continued as usual.

“The actions of law enforcement and campus administration led to a successful resolution to this matter, and we are confident that there is no threat to our students or our school,” the MFISD statement added. “There are very serious consequences associated with threatening a school and/or students, and this would be a good time to remind our students of such.”

Police took the two students into custody and charged them with making a terroristic threat.

“While Marble Falls ISD appreciates receiving information verbally, we do offer several anonymous reporting mechanisms,” the letter to parents reads.

School officials asked tipsters to check out the web-based “Stay Alert” and MFISD Tip Line on the district website at www.marblefallsisd.org or call/text 1-206-406-6485.
