MARBLE FALLS — A pep-rally atmosphere welcomed early morning shoppers to the 6 a.m. opening of Marble Falls’ newest attraction.

The Marble Falls High School band played outside the new 110-000-square-foot H-E-B store, 1503 RR 1431, while the school’s cheerleaders welcomed shoppers inside.

One local shopper wasted little time getting to the register to become the store’s first customer.

“I just wanted change for the lotto machine,” Marble Falls resident Steve Feist said.

His purchase — a bag of M&Ms — also netted Feist a flower bouquet and a $50 H-E-B gift card for being the store’s first customer.

“I didn’t figure they’d make a big deal out of it,” Feist said of his purchase. “They took the first dollar out of my change. I gave them a twenty.”

Feist said he got in line to enter the store shortly after 4 a.m. Friday, and even attended the family preview Thursday because his youngest son, Seth, works at the store.

Was anyone else there when he arrived so early?

“Nobody,” he said.

Feist said his wife also planned to attend, but he didn’t see her at the store by the time it opened.

“She’s gonna freak when she sees this,” Feist said of the flowers and gift card.

“I’ll tell her I bought some flowers with it. She gave me a twenty to get some dog food.”

  1. We went to the store from Burnet and did curbside pickup (typical millennials lol). Never have to go to that terrible Burnet HEB again.

    Great job HEB!

  2. What a bunch of ungrateful people commenting on here. HEB helped build a new store because the old one has had its time and people still complain. What a shame.

    1. Thrilled to realize THIS great store is my new go-to store and so much closer than Bee Caves, Leander/Cedar Park or Georgetown. Thank you HEB!

  3. You would think people have never seen a grocery store before. I was astounded. I have been to the one in Leander, the one in Georgetown, the one on Lakeline in Cedar Park. They are all similar or the same as this one. Furthermore, we had a HEB to start with.

  4. I went only because I always go on Saturday and I was not thrilled. What we had was fine and you could find what you came in for. Parking and I understand will get better and we parked in the old parking lot but too many people and I am sure that are not all Marble Falls.

  5. Why does HEB make it so hard to find National Brands? Lays, Cheetos, Falfurias Butter, Jimmy Dean Sausage? I’ll choose what I buy, not HEB. Ultimately you get what you pay for.

    1. I dunno, but if that’s what you eat, you’re gonna need a national brand heart and cholesterol perscription.
