ROUND MOUNTAIN — A man remains behind bars after authorities seized 54 marijuana plants from a barn on a remote property in Round Mountain, according to the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office.

Joseph William Beck, 53, of Round Mountain faces charges of felony possession of marijuana (more than five pounds); felony possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamines); and a misdemeanor terroristic threat.

Authorities with the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by Llano County authorities, seized the plants March 10 in the 500 block of Rattlesnake Road after executing a search warrant.

“He was growing marijuana for sale. It is a good amount,” said Blanco County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Ben Ablon said. “I don’t know if he was selling to the general public or he had a distributorship going. That part of the investigation is ongoing.”

Beck, who was on the property alone, was arrested without incident.

A tip earlier in March prompted authorities to launch their investigation, according to the report.

The terroristic threat charge is connected to a separate incident believed to be related to the marijuana case, Ablon said.

Beck remains in the Blanco County Jail on surety bonds totaling $26,500.
