Spicewood Arts Society scholarship fundraiser offers dinner and Duck Soup
SPECIAL TO THE PICAYUNE
SPICEWOOD — The Spicewood Arts Society is holding its annual scholarship fundraiser Feb. 20 at the Spicewood Vineyards Event Center.
The Rockin’ the Vineyards event features a buffet dinner, a concert and a silent auction and raises money for scholarships for students in the Marble Falls and Lake Travis school districts who will pursue a post-secondary education in the arts. In 2014, the society awarded six $1,500 scholarships to local students.
“I look forward to this event every year. Not only is it a night of fun, food and dancing, but the proceeds go to such a great cause,” society president Janey Richardson said. “I love knowing that Spicewood Arts Society plays an instrumental role to keeping the arts alive and that we help provide an education to deserving students.”
Doors open at 6 p.m. at the center, 1419 CR 409. A buffet dinner provided by Buenos Aires Café will be served 6:30-7:30 p.m. with a performance of rock music from the 1950s through the 1980s by Duck Soup at 7 p.m. A silent auction is 6-8:30 p.m.
Tickets are $75 a person. To purchase, go to www.spicewoodarts.org or visit the Spicewood Arts Society office, 9408B Texas 71 East, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. Call (512) 264-2820 for more information.
The society brings performing, visual and literary arts events to the Spicewood community and surrounding areas. The performing arts program consists of at least six concerts each year hosted at Spicewood Vineyards. The organization uses the money raised to provide arts-related educational opportunities for local schools.
