Water quality ‘all clear’ in Burnet after broken line repaired
FROM STAFF REPORTS
BURNET — Burnet city officials have lifted a boil water notice after tests came back “all clear” Jan. 26 following emergency repairs on a 16-inch water line.
Crews discovered the leak, described as a large “geyser” on North Water (U.S. 281) and Johnson streets Jan. 25. Residents were instructed to boil water through 5 p.m. Jan. 27.
Officials sent samples off for water quality testing by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
To repair the line, workers shut down a few smaller lines, cutting off water to several hundred residents in an area bordered by West, Johnson and Hill streets as well as FM 963.
Officials say the cause of the waterline break is unknown.
