MARBLE FALLS — After more than six years, Jennifer Cayce’s spoon isn’t just for noon.

Cayce has extended the hours of the Noon Spoon Cafe to dinner five nights a week.

“I felt like it was that time,” Cayce said. “As I evolved, I didn’t want to just stay stagnant.”

A workaholic, Cayce could always be found at the Noon Spoon Cafe, 610 Broadway St. Adding evening hours meant longer days, she thought.

In July, Cayce underwent an emergency, and unexpected, back surgery. She was away from the Noon Spoon Cafe for six weeks. While she’s back to 100 percent now, the time away gave her staff a chance to handle the cafe without her there every day.

“To be faced with something like that, to be gone for six weeks, I was terrified,” Cayce said. “But I had nothing to be terrified about.”

The staff proved themselves, and Cayce decided it was time to open for dinner 5-9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. The Noon Spoon Cafe is open for lunch 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

“I love to cook new things all the time. I get bored cooking the same thing over and over again,” she said. “Now I’m cooking ribeye steaks, different appetizers; it helps my creative juices continue to grow.”

Cayce works dinners now, and lets her staff handle lunch. The new items on the dinner menu have been fun to cook, she said.

And she’s seeing new customers.

“It’s great to hear that so many people have been wanting to eat here but can’t because their work schedule doesn’t allow it,” Cayce said.

And now Cayce is looking forward to this new chapter of her life.

“I’m confident it will succeed; it will be fun to see how quickly it does,” she said. “It’s an exciting adventure for me.”
