MARBLE FALLS — No one was injured after a car caught on fire and crashed into a motorcycle business in the 1600 block of U.S. 281.
The driver, a Granite Shoals resident, tried to pull off the highway as he was driving north on U.S. 281 after flames and smoke started coming from underneath the vehicle.
“As he tried to pull in, the car was off, the brakes weren’t working, so he crashed into the building,” said Marble Falls Patrol Officer Jimmy Cole.
The driver and his wife, who was a passenger in the car, were uninjured.
An employee inside Burnet County Cycles said he was was standing on the other side of the wall moments before the car struck.
“I just took two steps out of the office,” Johnny “Bones” Holbrook said.
Holbrook called 911 as he moved his truck from the building, which was next to the burning car.
The Marble Falls Fire Rescue command vehicle arrived and pulled the burning car away from the building.
Cole said the fire department pulled most of the brick away from the building to fight the fire that had creeped into the ceiling.
Some smoke and fire damage was reported, but no estimate was available.
