MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School volleyball team defeated Killeen Shoemaker 14-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-12 on Sept. 5.
All three Marble Falls teams had victories over Shoemaker.
The freshmen fought back from a 1-11 deficit to take the first set in route to the sweep.
“The JV and varsity teams each struggled with errors and passing and were unsuccessful in the first game,” head coach Julie Downs said.

Burnet vs. Rockdale, Bangs
BURNET — The Burnet High School volleyball team enjoyed its week.
On Sept. 5, the Lady Dawgs defeated Rockdale 25-21, 25-20, 25-17 after beating Bangs 27-25, 25-12, 25-22 on Sept. 2.
Against Rockdale, head coach Salye Coles was pleased with her team’s play from start to finish.
“The kids played well and fought hard,” she said. “I was proud of their ability to capitalize from the opponent’s mistakes. We keep playing smarter and smarter.”
Burnet fought back from an 8-18 deficit in the opening set against Bangs.
“Sometimes, it takes us a little while to get into our own rhythm when we play a team with a slower tempo than us,” Coles said. “But when we do, we are an awesome sight to see.”

LAMPASAS — The Burnet Middle School volleyball team defeated Lampasas 25-14, 25-12 on Sept. 4.
QUOTABLE: “After a little bit of a slow start, the girls really got it going. I am very proud of the effort and hard work they displayed throughout the night. We had a very good night serving as well as hitting,” coach Glen Hafley said.

Burnet 7th B lost to Lampasas 20-25, 25-21, 5-15
LAMPASAS — The Burnet Middle School seventh-grade B volleyball team lost to Lampasas 20-25, 25-21, 5-15 on Sept. 4.
The Lady Pups fell behind early in the first set but came back to tie it at 7-7. Finally, the Lady Badgers made enough plays to claim the opening game.
Coach Crystal Syphrett said her players showed more fight and determination in the second set, building an 11-3 advantage. Though Lampasas showed determination, Burnet’s serving led the way to the win.
Serving failed the Lady Pups in the final set, which allowed the Lady Badges to take a 10-0 lead. Burnet’s Kendal Connally served four consecutive points to put the Lady Pups on the scoreboard.
“I really want to applaud these girls for playing as a team and going for the bump, set, hits like we have worked on,” Syphrett said. “I look forward to what this season will bring for this group of young ladies.”

LAMPASAS — The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade A volleyball team beat Lampasas 25-16, 25-7 on Sept. 4.
QUOTABLE: “The girls really came ready to play and were able come away with a victory. We did a very good job in all areas, and it really got the season off on a good note. We had a very strong night serving. Very proud of how the team played and how hard they played,” coach Glen Hafley said.

LAMPASAS — The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade B volleyball team beat Lampasas 25-20, 25-15 on Sept. 4.
The Lady Pups showed resiliency by coming back after falling behind 6-0 in the first set. Aubrey Losey’s serving helped lead the way to the win.
Winning the opening game gave the players confidence, coach Tamura Hurst said, so they easily took the contest.
