FROM STAFF REPORTS

KINGSLAND — A teenager is recovering after being injured by a boat propeller while swimming in Lake LBJ, officials say.

The incident happened about 7 p.m. June 30 in 3-5 feet of water just off Kingsland Community Park.

According to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office, the victim is a 14-year-old female.

Texas Game Warden Cody Hatfield said emergency crews airlifted the injured victim to a hospital in Travis County, and as of July 1, healthcare workers listed her in stable condition.

Her injuries included serious cuts to her legs, Hatfield said.

“She is expected to make a full recovery,” he added.

“With more people coming to the lakes and more individuals being out there, it’s imperative you be conscious of all your surroundings as well as what’s happening with other individuals on the water,” Hatfield said. “Just be aware.”

Texas game wardens and Lower Colorado River Authority rangers are investigating the incident.
