Get up and at ’em early April 20 if you want to see a spectacular sight at the hot-air balloon festival in Horseshoe Bay. About 20 hot-air balloons will light up the early morning sky as they rise over the Resort Jet Center, a 6,000-square-foot runway overlooking Lake LBJ and the Texas Hill Country.

The three-day Balloons Over Horseshoe Bay Resort Festival opens to the public on April 20 at 5:30 a.m. for the 6:30 a.m. balloon glow.

Other April 20 events include a Powered Parachutes performance following the balloon glow and a 10:30 a.m. dog walk to benefit a local animal shelter. The Kids Festival, featuring “Transportion throughout Time,” will be open 1-4 p.m. at the Event Lawn at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott. Helicopter rides will be available throughout the day.

But wait! April 20 is not done yet. At 4 p.m., gates for the evening session open with wine tasting and a vendor arts-and -rafts fair. Powered Parachutes will perform again at 4:30 with live music. Sky Divers get the evening under way at 5:30 p.m. with a Balloon Glow Finale. Grammy-nominated Sixpence None the Richer will perform a live concert after the glow.

A VIP package to the festival April 19-21 includes room, admission to all three days of festival events and tethered balloon rides. Additional private events include an evening kick-off party April 19 at the Resort Jet Center and a gospel brunch April 21
