Burnet 8th A, third at own tournament Jan. 18-19

BURNET — The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade A boys basketball team captured third place at its own tournament Jan. 18-19, winning two out of three games. The Bulldogs beat Fredericksburg 33-11 and Hudson Bend 55-29. Their only loss was to Lake Travis, 32-26.

Liberty Hill 59, Burnet 8th A 50 on Jan. 24

ON OFFENSE: Points – Nathan Evans 10, Kyle Cavender 9, Caelin Graves 7, Ryan Robertson 7, Jemal Alexander 7, Cash Ringstaff 4, Jacob Scott 3, Drew Kiser 3.

QUOTABLE: “We came out a little slow and dug ourselves a big hole. Several of the boys got into foul trouble early, and that kept them on the bench for most of the game, but the bench came in and did a great job,” Burnet coach Glen Hafley said.

RECORDS: Burnet 8th A is 8-2 overall and 6-1 in district.
