MARBLE FALLS — City officials say improving sales taxes collected during March may be a sign the economy is on the mend.

“The economy does appear to be improving,” City Manager Ralph Hendricks said April 13.

Sales-tax allocations for March returned by the state Comptroller’s Office jumped more than 16 percent over the same period last year. Officials also said sales taxes in general have been climbing the last few months.
