Mustangs prepare for Austin Maroons
MARBLE FALLS — The Mustangs’ 67-59 victory against San Antonio FEAST on Dec. 16 did more than give Marble Falls a much-needed win; it gave the players confidence.
And they’ll need it against the Maroons, a squad that typically pushes the tempo and wants the score to be in the 80s. Marble Falls has played well against Austin High in past years. This marks the last game before taking a break for the Christmas holiday.
Tipoff is Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. at Austin High, 1715 W. Cesar Chavez in Austin.
BIG MATCHUP: The Mustang’ junior post Rey Baltazar against the Maroons’ junior post Patrick Strake. The matchup will be the game’s best and should determine which squad wins the game.
ON OFFENSE: Maroons feature two tall junior guards, Dorian Parks, at 6 feet 3 inches, and 6-2 Chris Moore. Parks dropped in 14 points, while Moore paced Austin High with 21 in its recent 47-32 win against Midway.
RECORDS: Marble Falls is 4-11; Austin High is 9-1.
UP NEXT: Marble Falls vs. Austin Travis at 9 a.m. Dec. 27 and Marble Falls vs. Uvalde at 3 p.m. Dec. 27. Both games are part of the Christmas Hoop Fest Tournament hosted by Wimberley, 100 Carney Lane in Wimberley.
