LLANO — The Burnet High School cross-country team competed in the Llano Invitational Meet on Sept. 10.

The boys squad, which was the only full team Burnet sent to the meet, was 12th overall out of 16 teams.

In the 3.1-mile course, Junior Humberto Mejia was 17th in 18 minutes, 8 seconds, while Joe Parker was 57th in 19:31.

On the girls’ side, junior Kathryn Drake was 34th out of 120 runners in 13:18 in the two-mile course.

In addition, the Burnet Middle School cross-country team also ran in the invitational in the junior high division.

Shaylah Hullum won the girls race in 13:40, while Abby Bullock was 13th in 15:39. Both received medals for finishing in the top 15 out of 102 runners.

In the boys division, Wesley Shackelford finished ninth in 13:38 out of 74 runners. He also received a medal.

Both races were two miles long.
