Burnet boys never trail in 53-40 win over Marble Falls

The Burnet and Marble Falls boys basketball teams meet Dec. 2 in Max Copeland Gym at Marble Falls High School, 2101 Mustang Drive. Tipoff is 8 p.m. The Bulldogs won last year’s match 48-47.

Burnet, Marble Falls girls squads ready for rivalry match

JENNIFER FIERRO • PICAYUNE STAFF GOLDTHWAITE — The Burnet High School girls basketball team earned a 48-39 road win against Goldthwaite on Nov. 25, right before Thanksgiving. The Lady Dawgs (3-1) led Goldthwaite 10-8 after the first quarter, 19-15 at the half and 32-23 after the third period.

Bulldogs start season with win; Lady Dawgs beat Wimberley

BURNET — The Burnet High School boys basketball team began the 2014-2015 season with a 57-54 win against Jarrell on Nov. 18. Jarrell took a 12-8 lead in the first quarter then held off the Bulldogs for a 24-23 advantage at the half. Burnet simply got stronger as the game continued to play out.

Lady Flames are tourney champs; Burnet girls fall to Brownwood

JENNIFER FIERRO • PICAYUNE STAFF BULVERDE — The Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball team captured the Bulverde Bracken tournament championship for the third time in six years Nov. 15. The Lady Flames (4-1) beat John Paul II 65-44 in the championship game after defeating Rosehill Christian 88-51 in the semifinals.

Burnet school district hires new girls coaches at high school, middle school

Frank Huey, who was the Marble Falls High School girls basketball assistant coach in 2012-2013, will be the Lady Dawgs head track-and-field coach and assistant basketball coach.

Burnet and Llano players make all-District 8-3A teams

BURNET — District 8-3A boys basketball coaches released their all-district selections. Two Burnet High School seniors, Clayton Baumgart and Derek Kiser, each received individuals awards for their performances during the 2013-2014 season. Baumgart averaged 17 points a game.
