MARBLE FALLS — It was a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

A mid-morning traffic stop Tuesday on U.S. 281 at Second Street by police seeking a federal fugitive sent a completely different man to jail on unrelated charges.

However, the motorist, who was not identified pending filing of formal charges, was still detained as part of a separate investigation into suspected drugs.

Officers did not reveal the charges against the federal fugitive they were actually looking for.

Police Capt. Floyd Goodwin said the case began Tuesday morning when local officers were asked to help stop a fugitive wanted on federal warrants.

A car was pulled over at 281 and Second Street about 100 yards from the Lake Marble Falls bridge.

However, Goodwin said the federal fugitive was not in the car, adding there's no evidence the motorist they did find is connected to that person.

Police said they expected to release more information on the arrested person early Wednesday, following the filing of formal charges.

The Texas Rangers and investigators from the Burnet County Sheriff's Office assisted with the stop.
