GRANITE SHOALS — A 57-year-old man accused of portraying himself as a cop ended up in jail when real police officers caught up to him.
William Kuykendall remained in the Burnet County Jail Oct. 31 charged with impersonating a public servant. Bond is $15,000.
The case began to unfold Oct. 24 when a man approached a Granite Shoals resident inquiring about a pickup and some property. The man claimed he was a peace officer, said police Capt. Clint Low.
"He identified himself as a lieutenant in the police department," Low said. "He didn't specify which department, but it doesn't really matter."
Low said the man was trying to learn who owned the pickup because he was interested in purchasing it.
