BURNET — A third-place tie in the race for City Council has been decided by one vote.
Carlos “Buddy” Coker defeated Phillip Thurman 61 to 60 during a special election Thursday. The regular election that decided all other council seats was May 14.
“We went through the election process,” Coker said Friday. “Phil (Thurman) is a nice guy, and Burnet would do well if either one of us got elected. I’m happy I was elected. If I didn’t want the job, I would not have run for it.”
