BURNET — An interim superintendent for the Burnet school district may not be named until late November, officials said.

"They have advertised for the position, and they are collecting resumes," said Superintendent Jeff Hanks, who is stepping down to take the same job in December with the Weatherford Independent School District.

Weatherford, a 5A district, is twice the size of the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District.

The Burnet School Board discussed finding someone to replace Hanks during a closed-door session Oct. 24.

"They will probably find someone for the job by the end of November," he added.

During his 13 years with BCISD, the district built the new Burnet High School; and completed renovations to Bertram and Shady Grove elementary schools, Burnet Middle School and several other facility improvements, Hanks said.
