BURNET — A deadly two-car collision Friday afternoon claimed the lives of two men on U.S. 281 and tied up traffic for hours just south of the city, officials said.
The accident occurred about 2:15 p.m. in the 4000 block of the highway, investigators said.

Jason Gillespie, 30, of Burnet was traveling north in a 2010 Jeep Patriot when the vehicle drifted over into the inside southbound lane, police said.
The Jeep was involved in collision with a four-door sedan heading south that was driven by Joseph “Joey” Venne, 20, of Bertram, officials said.
