Burnet school district drops in state rankings

BURNET — The Burnet school district overall slipped a notch from recognized to academically acceptable, according to state rankings for 2010-2011 released this week.

Also, Burnet High School is now listed as an academically unacceptable campus. Last year, the school received the Texas Education Agency’s recognized rating, a higher designation.

Officials with the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District were unavailable for comment Friday.

Three BCISD campuses also appeared to have tumbled on TEA ratings this year.

Burnet Middle School earned the recognized rating last year. Now, TEA rates the school as academically acceptable.

Perhaps the most surprising fall on the TEA scale is Bertram Elementary School. Last year, the agency rated Bertram as an exemplary school.

According to the latest TEA report, the school is now at the recognized level.
