BUCHANAN DAM — Two members of a cleaning business charged in a string of burglaries at clients’ homes are suspected of stealing about $10,000 worth of property, investigators said.
Caroline Emma Creighton, 46, and Mallory James Akin, 38, both of Buchanan Dam, are charged with burglary of a habitation.
She was released Jan. 3 from the Burnet County Jail after posting a $25,500 bond. He posted a $26,000 bond and left the jail Jan. 4.
Stolen items recovered so far are valued at more than $10,000, Sheriff W.T. Smith said Jan. 6 in a news release.
Investigators recovered stolen property at Austin-area pawn shops linked to several residential burglaries from October through December, Smith added.
Investigators became interested in Creighton after burglary victims reported each had employed “Busy Bee Cleaning Services,” which the Buchanan Dam woman operated, the sheriff added.
Akin was known to work with Creighton while cleaning residential and commercial properties.
Some of the items law enforcement recovered include a rifle, a fly-fishing reel, jewelry, a silver tea set and footwear.
After a woman’s arrest Jan. 2, deputies found several items reported stolen from the homes in her vehicle, officials said.
