High school football play clocks will now tick down from 40

JENNIFER FIERRO • PICAYUNE STAFF BURNET — A rule change by the University Interscholastic League and the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools has football coaches in the area studying its ramifications. The UIL and TAPPS approved changing the play clock from 25 seconds to 40 seconds.

Charlie Dawn Campbell golf tournament fundraiser seeking players and sponsors

BURNET — The second annual Charlie Dawn Campbell Fundraiser Golf Tournament is set for Sept. 6 at the Delaware Springs Municipal Golf Course. Campbell was injured in a 2013 all-terrain vehicle accident on a Burnet County ranch. She suffered paralysis and requires continued medical and rehabilitation care.

Marble Falls volleyball posts 2-4 record at Tex-Fest Tournament

WIMBERLEY — The Marble Falls High School volleyball team posted a 2-4 record at the Tex-Fest Tournament on Aug. 15-16. The Lady Mustangs (2-5) defeated Hondo 25-21, 25-21 and Hamshire-Fannett 25-22, 24-26, 25-17. They lost to Cleburne 22-25, 22-25; Ingram Tom Moore 15-25 and 23-25; Uvalde 23-25, 18-25; and Lockhart 21-25, 20-25.

Young Marble Falls golfer’s 5-birdie game wins title

JENNIFER FIERRO • PICAYUNE STAFF THE WOODLANDS — Marble Falls Middle School golfer Macy Fox captured the South Texas PGA Junior Championship on Aug. 14 by winning the girls 10-12 division. Fox shot a 75-69–144 for the victory. She recorded five birdies in the second round.
