JOHNSON CITY — An early retirement incentive offered to about 100 Pedernales Electric Cooperative employees could save more than $10 million in health-insurance premiums, officials said.
"If these employees take advantage of this, it will amount to some savings for (co-op) members," said PEC spokeswoman Kay Jarvis.
Nearly a dozen employees with the nation's largest member-owned electric co-op so far have opted for early retirement, which allows them to take advantage of an offer that includes partially paid health insurance premiums.
