Husband-and-wife writers return to Burnet library for workshop

BURNET — Husband-and-wife writers W.C. Jameson and Laurie Wagner Buyer Jameson of Llano return to the Herman Brown Free Library for a second workshop Feb. 25.

He will discuss self-publishing and she will cover writing a memoir.

The class is 9 a.m.-noon at the library, 100 E. Washington. Participants must pre-register by Feb. 17. A $20 materials fee is payable at the door Feb. 25.

W.C. Jameson will present “The Advantages and Disadvantages of Self-Publishing,” which will discuss the advantages and guidelines of self-publishing. He is the award-winning author of 68 books, 1,500 articles and essays, 300 songs and dozens of poems. A professional treasure hunter, he has been a consultant for "Unsolved Mysteries" and the Travel Channel. He served as an advisor for "National Treasure" starring Nicolas Cage and appears in an interview on the DVD.

In addition, Jameson has written the soundtracks for two PBS documentaries and one feature film and his music has been heard on National Public Radio. He wrote and performed in the musical “Whatever Happened to the Outlaw, Jesse James?” and has acted in five films.

His latest book, "Treasure Hunter," was just named Best Book of 2011 by Indie Reader.

Laurie Wagner Buyer Jameson will present “Making a Memoir: A Creative Nonfiction Expedition,” which will teach what authors need to consider when writing a memoir. A poet, memoirist and novelist, her freelance articles and photographs have appeared in dozens of periodicals, journals, reviews and anthologies. She is the author of five collections of poetry, "Glass-eyed Paint in the Rain," "Red Colt Canyon," "Across the High Divide," "Infinite Possibilities: A Haiku Journal" and "Accidental Voices"; the novel "Side Canyons"; and two memoirs, "Spring’s Edge: A Ranch Wife’s Chronicles" and "When I Came West."

She has received the Beryl Markham Prize for Creative Nonfiction, the Western Writer’s of America Spur Award in Poetry, has twice been named a finalist for the Colorado Book Award and for the Women Writing the West Willa Cather Literary Award and received an honorable mention for the ForeWord Review Book of the Year Award.
