Bernice Rhea Shearer, 67, of Kingsland died Aug. 31, 2016

Bernice Rhea Shearer of Kingsland, Texas, passed away Aug. 31, 2016, at the age of 67. She was born Dec. 27, 1948, to Rheba and Allen Bryant in Lindsey, California.

She married Joe Shearer on Aug. 1, 1968, in Gruver, Texas. Rhea and Joe moved back to Kingsland some 28 years ago. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

Rhea was employed by the Llano Independent School District for 25 years and had been retired for three years. She liked her job and loved the children dearly.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joe Shearer of Kingsland; daughters, Caressia Blair and husband Gene of Louisville, Kentucky, and Micheale Cartwright and husband Brad of Rockdale; sisters, Betty Cornick and Gay Delz and husband Mike, all of Kingsland; brother, Mike Bryant and wife Pat of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rheba and Allen Bryant.

A memorial service is 10 a.m. Sept. 3 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Blvd. in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767, with the Rev. Doug Lindley officiating.
