Betty Nell Maddux, 86, of Burnet died April 19, 2016

Betty Nell Maddux passed away peacefully in Burnet, Texas, on April 19, 2016, at the age of 86. She was born in Malakoff, Texas, to Allen C. and Gladys L (Hill) Barton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jeanne (Barton) Dickman; and husband, Roy E. Maddux Jr.

Betty is survived by her sister Peggy (Barton) Cloud; stepson, Roy E Maddux III and wife Cheryl; stepdaughters, Sherrie (Maddux) Buendel and husband Jerry and Amy (Maddux) Fryar and husband Kelly; and six grandchildren.

A loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother, Betty was a strong, independent and adventurous woman who loved spending her time traveling, relaxing along the coast, hunting for fossils and birding. She enjoyed collecting small mementos, old folk songs, murder mysteries and board games with her grandchildren.

At Betty’s request, no services will be held. The family is grateful for the condolences but declines flowers and donations. A cremation was April 22. There will be a private memorial at a later date.
