BURNET — Blake Lilly of Fredericksburg and teammate Blade Beckham won the second fishing tournament of the year held on Inks Lake by the fishing club at Marble Falls High School on Oct. 18.

The duo caught three fish weighing a total of 10 pounds and 4 ounces.

The tournament drew 12 boats. Each team was limited to weighing three fish.

From the Marble Falls club, duos Jakob Thornton and Wes Thornton and Kameron Wright and Colby Orton tied for third place with seven-pound totals.

“In fact, most of them had to rely on culling the fish,” club organizer Craig Orton said. “This is a method of removing and releasing lighter-weight fish from a live well so the heaviest or tournament limit is retained. It is always a good thing when this is occurring for the anglers.”

Organizers said the weather cooperated as it was not too hot or too cold. And many of the anglers were not as familiar with Inks Lake, so they had to find the hot spots, Orton said.

RESULTS: 1, Blake Lilly (Fredericksburg) and Blade Beckham, 10.4 pounds; 2, Chase Maddox and Jarrett Robertson (both from Kerrville), 7.4 pounds; 3, Jakob Thornton and Wes Thornton (both from Marble Falls), 7 pounds; 3, Kameron Wright and Colby Orton (both from Marble Falls), 7 pounds. Big Bass – Blake Lilly, 5.1 pounds
