Sheeda Teresa Balkum of Tow, Texas, passed into her Savior’s arms on Sept. 23, 2014. She was born Feb. 26, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Wilbur and Nellie Daniel.

Sheeda lived most of her adult life in Midland, Texas, where she met and married her soulmate, Wiley Balkum.

She was a very kind, caring person who had no enemies. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family and friends, and her dog, Sassy.

Sheeda was always working in her garden, tending her plants or feeding the birds. She and Wiley moved to Tow in 2010 and built their dream home on the shores of Lake Buchanan. She loved the beautiful sunrises and sunsets at her home on the lake and the peaceful serenity of the rural area.

Sheeda is survived by her best friend and husband, Wiley Balkum; mother and dad, Nellie and Tom Murin of Lubbock; sons, Chris Kuzmich of Atlanta, Patrick Kuzmich of San Antonio, Kevin Kuzmich of Austin and Matthew Kuzmich and wife Daniella of Grand Prairie; daughter, Jennifer Aleni Barker of Carlsbad, New Mexico; brother, Jeff Daniel of Lubbock; sister Lisa Lawler and husband Donnie of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and two nieces.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at First Baptist Church, 16529 RR 2241 in Tow, with a graveside service to follow at Tow Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Nygard will officiate.

The family requests that any donations be made to the church of your choice.
