MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School tennis team lost 10-9 to Cedar Park Vista Ridge on Sept. 12.

Marble Falls (1-2 in District 25-5A) earned its ninth point when McKenzey Fox won her singles match with two matches remaining.

But the Rangers won those final matches for the win. Six of Vista Ridge’s 10 points came from wins in boys singles.

One of those victories came against Mustang Liam Baskin, who lost in a third-set tiebreaker.

“Liam played a great match,” Marble Falls head coach Jeff Savage said.

In boys doubles, Wiley Baskin and Jared Edwards won the match after losing the first set. They were down 3-5 in the second but fought back for a 7-5 win to force a third set-tiebreaker, which they won 10-5.

Fox’s win in girls singles rounded out the other victories on the girls side that included Tess Cryer, Kaylin Zavala and Afton Otwell.

“Tess Cryer is moving really well on the court and showing excellent consistency,” Savage said. “Kaylin Zavala has really been hitting a good ball with excellent placement and power. Afton Otwell continues to wear her opponents down with consistent play. McKenzey Fox really has stepped up her play this year and will be a huge asset for the Mustangs for years to come.”
