Melba Perkins, 76, passed away Aug. 8, 2014. She was born Aug. 10, 1937, to Andrew and Laura Whitten in Stockdale, Texas.

She cared for people as a registered nurse for more than 40 years and also headed the IV therapy department at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Melba was married to Bobby C. Perkins for 46 years, and together they raised two daughters, Wendy Carter and Robyn Roach. Melba was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby C. Perkins.
Survivors include her daughters, Wendy Carter and husband John and Robyn Roach and husband Scott; grandchildren, Schuyler, Zane and Riley; sister, Janice LaRocca; brother, Jerry Whitten; sister-in-law, Shirley Perkins; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of lowers, the family has requested donations be made in her memory to the Cherokee Home for Children in Cherokee, Texas, and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
A graveside is Aug. 12 at Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale.
