MARBLE FALLS — Marble Falls High School welcomes one coach, while saying goodbye to another.

Michael Birdwell will be joining the football staff as the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach, athletic director and head coach Matt Green announced June 26.

Birdwell’s hire is pending school board approval.

He spent the past two years at Lucas Lovejoy with Green.

“We played together at Howard Payne,” Green said. “We became good friends through the years.”

The athletic director also confirmed the resignation of head baseball coach J.T. Blair, who will be going to Austin Westlake, where former Mustangs athletic director Todd Dodge is now.

Dodge hired Blair two years ago.

“I hate to see him go,” Green said. “People make decisions that are best for their family.”

“Marble Falls has been good to me,” Blair said via text.
