BURNET — The Hill Country FC 11-and-under team defeated Lonestar SC San Antonio 3-0 on Sept. 21.

The first goal was scored in the 15th minute by Haydn Childs with a bending shot to the top corner of the net from outside of the goal box just out of the outstretched reach of the Lonestar SC goalie.

The next goal came from Jonathan Sanchez with a low kick at the bottom of the net at the 45th minute.

Edwin Lopez scored the final goal on a penalty kick when the defense was called for pushing.

Club director Clayton Patterson said the game was closer than the score shows. He credits goalie Carlos Soto and great defensive play by Benjamin Wilson and Grant Norris for preserving the victory.

The team is coached by former Marble Falls High School player Eric Cardenas.

Both Hill Country FC 9-and-under and 10-and-under games were canceled because of flooded fields in the Austin area. They will be rescheduled in the next couple of weeks.

Hill Country FC U9 will face NASA RCR 05B Orange at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 28 at Cook U9/10 No. 1 field, 1511 Cripple Creek Drive in Austin.

Hill Country FC U10 welcomes the Dynamo Juniors Central Texas 04B Boswell at 10:30 a.m., while Hill Country FC U11 takes on Alamo Heights Fort Sam Houston AHFHS Fire Red 03B at noon. Both games will be at Haley Nelson Park, located on Texas 29 West in Burnet.
