Stade Endall Erwin, 63, passed away Sept. 2, 2013, at his home in Bertram, Texas. Stade was born Nov. 15, 1949, in Baytown, Texas, to C. Gene and Juanita Erwin.

He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1967.

Stade attended Lamar University in Beaumont and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1971, followed by a master’s degree in history in 1975.

He lived in Baytown from his birth until 1996, when he moved to Central Texas. Stade always loved vacationing in the Hill Country and, eventually, built a ranch home on 25 acres in Bertram in 1999.

Stade married to his wife, Veronica, in 1971. His son, Damon, was born in 1976.

He spent most of his working career as an educator, with a stint in the private sector, traveling extensively for international business. He retired from Cedar Park High School in 2011.

Stade is survived by his wife, Veronica, and son, Damon, of Bertram; sister, Danna Holland of Houston; and brother, Clarke of Baytown.

Stade enjoyed duck hunting in his youth, going on his first hunt with his father when he was 6 weeks old. He was an avid reader and continued learning about the world throughout his adult life after graduating from college. In retirement, Stade enjoyed traveling, working crossword puzzles, watching old movies and doing woodworking projects in his barn.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sept. 4 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A public memorial service is the morning of Sept. 5 at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Burnet. It will be followed by a burial ceremony at Shady Grove Cemetery in Burnet. A reception will be held at the church after the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to LaCare food bank in Burnet.
