Christina deGeest passed away Aug. 12, 2013, in Wylie, Texas. She was born Nov. 2, 1971, in Wabash, Ind., to Matilda Rose Funk.
Christina married her high school sweetheart and lived out a true love story with him.
She was passionate about gardening, being outdoors and, especially, cooking. She loved hummingbirds and set up her garden to attract them.
The joy of her life was her granddaughter, Scarlett, whom she cherished.
Christina was a devout Christian and had a compassionate and giving heart, always focused on others, whether people or animals. She was a supportive military spouse and a wife of 23 years who loved to be a hostess and open her kitchen and home to others.
Christina is survived by her husband, John deGeest; son, Charles deGeest; daughter, Autumn deGeest Zenisek; son-in-law, Zach Zenisek; granddaughter, Scarlett Zenisek; parents, Randall and Rosie Habegger; stepbrother, Daniel Habegger; and stepsisters, Julie Habegger Wagoner and Cyndi Habegger Udolisa.
A memorial service is 10 a.m. Sept. 7 at Christ Redeemer Fellowship on Phillips Ranch Road in Granite Shoals. Interment will be in DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas.
