Ronald Walter “Ronnie” Smith, 64, passed away Feb. 3, 2013, at his home in Bertram. He was born in Burnet on July 8, 1948, to Charles Walter “C.W.” and Alpha Mae (Harris) Smith.

After graduating from high school, Ronnie served in the Marine Corps as an interpreter in Vietnam. He later trained and worked as an electrician in Austin before returning to his hometown of Bertram — that he loved — to open AMA.

In 1975, Ronnie married Pamela Kyle in Forest Grove, Texas. They were married for 37 years and raised their children in the home they built on Ronnie’s home place.

Ronnie is survived by his wife Pam; son Matt Smith of Rwanda, Africa; and daughters Amanda Walker of Bertram and Allison Milliorn and husband Evan of Burnet. He also is survived by his grandchildren Emmerson, Bennett and Everleigh Walker and Jack Miliorn; brother Steve Smith and wife Betty of Bertram; sister Patsy Oertli and husband Skip of Bertram; and many nieces, nephews and relatives on both his side of the family and the Kyle side of the family that also dearly loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Feb. 5 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 11 a.m. Feb. 6 at First Baptist Church in Bertram with the Rev. Gordon Bergstrom officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram.  Pallbearers are Dickie Allen, Jerrell Kaufman, Randy Kaufman, Jimmy Rogers, Jamie Brizendine and James Hardin.

Contributions in memory of Ronnie may be made to the Bertram Little League or to any organization or group benefiting or supporting Bertram activities.
